Jubilee Tree Intimation
The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. Everyone across the UK is being invited to plant trees through to the end of this Jubilee year.
The Queen’s Green Canopy will create a network of trees, in honour of The Queen’s service and the legacy she has built.
This will create a green legacy of its own, with every tree planted bringing benefits for people, wildlife and climate, now and for the future.
As part of this initiative, we will be planting a tree in the garden area to the south of the church after one of our services later this year. Details to follow.
The chosen tree is Malus ‘Evereste’ – a crab apple.
It is a pretty tree with masses of white flowers from red buds in late spring, followed by large, red-flushed, orange-yellow fruit, and dark green leaves.
